Notwithstanding, there is often a controversey as to what actually can accurately can be called a "Farmers' Market".
Well, of course, a market where the farmer themself sells the food they themself has grown would probably meet most any definition of a "Farmers' Market". When employees or even family members of the farmer sell that which the farmer has grown, in most peoples mind that too might justifiably be called a "Farmers' Market".
However, while the subject of The Farmers' Market Show™ specifically does include the aforementioned models as meeting our definition of a "Farmers' Market" we generally do not include in our defintion of a "Farmers Market" the model wherein neither the farmer, the farmer's family nor employees exclusively employed by the farmer are selling that which the farmers has grown. We deem that a "Brokers' Market".
Therein lies the problem. In many areas, especially outside of the United States, "Brokers' Markets" function as the Farmers' Market. While we essentially pass no real judgment on the authenticity of such "Brokers Markets", there are a wide range of differences that eminate from the fact of whether such a market is what we like to call a "Farmers Market" or what we like to call a "Brokers Market".
In any event we have sometimes included "Brokers Markets" for a variety of reasons. Sophisticated consumers can come to their own conclusions. We simply point this out. As they sometimes say at the market, "it's all good"! Enjoy!
